It's been over a week since my last post.  Things are been fairly hectic, shall we say.  What with illness and a million things to try and get done, it has left very little time.  What time I have had available I've used for sleeping, unfortunately a bit of a necessity.

It is so hard to be ill when you have two young children to take care of.  All I've wanted to do is stay in bed and hide, but no chance.  I have to get them up, dressed, take them to school, well one to school.  On top of all that I have also had a poorly Charlie to contend with, So he gets all the love and attention and his every need met instantly.  Still, I'm getting back on track now and I'll soon be good to go.

With Charlie being ill the other night I did something I usually never allow.  He came to my bed at 2:30am and I just threw open the duvet and let him climb in.  Never, ever, ever again!.  For starters it was like laying next to an inferno.  He was so hot despite all the medicine he'd been dosed up with.  Secondly. he snuggles up so close.  I was literally laid on 2cm of mattress, hardly daring to breathe in case I fell out, while he just sprawled diagonal.  His arms and head were constantly in contact with me.  When I moved, he moved.  Thirdly, he snored really badly and lastly he had a scratchy toe nail that he kept rubbing on the back of my leg.  My leg is now covered in little red scratches.

I was so tired last night.a all day I had been looking forward to curling up in my nice warm bed with my book, typically, as soon as my head touched the pillow I developed a really annoying, tickly cough.  It plagued me for most of the night and I have been at it all day today; so that doesn't bode well for a good nights sleep tonight.  Still I will dose myself up with cough medicine and hope and pray for the best.

Dirty Love Rats!

Following on from yesterdays post the title Dirty Love Rats just keeps popping to mind.  So, here goes...

Yes, I have known my fair share of dirty love rats.  In fact, I married one.  Don't get me wrong I am not a man hater or anything like that.  There are some good guys out there.  Some really good guys, in fact.  Unfortunately for me, the good guys I have come across are either gay or already spoken for.  So far anyway.

Maybe I have a sign on my forehead that just attacts the dregs, the bad boys, the wrong ones.  The ones that just can't keep their bits and bobs safely in their pants.  On the flip side if the rat I married hadn't have done what he did I would, quite possibly, have still been stuck in the marriage, feeling miserable and plodding through life instead of enjoying it.

Since the rat has left, I feel like a new woman, I have a new outlook, a new agenda and a new goal in life.  I have also developed my ratometer, hopefully the next time a rat tries to enter my life, waaah, waaah, waaah.  The alarm bells will sound.

Dirty Rats!

I have been doing a bit of detective work today.  To cut a long story short there have been moments over the last couple of months that I have heard scratching and scrabbling noises coming from the wall behind my bed.  It freakily always seems to start as soon as I turn my light out and snuggle down to go to sleep.  There has been no pattern to it.  It's not every night, just every so often.

Now, a few years ago I had a similar problem and it turned out that the problem was a humongous rat.  It was awful to hear it moving about in the walls in the middle of the night.  The worst part was not knowing how it got there and if it could actually get into the house.  It turned out that it could.  We actually caught it in a rat trap in the kitchen.  It totally freaked me out.

My house just felt dirty and I immediately had to start scrubbing the place from top to bottom.

So, with the scratching re-starting I originally thought that the problem had returned.  Obviously not the same rat, that was a goner.

I was searching in the loft today and came across a rather large number of bird poops.  Just near that wall that is just above my bed.  It seems the problem this time is not rats, but birds.  Argggh.  I love wildlife but not when it comes into my house uninvited.  The culprit was not in the loft at the time of my search therefore there must be someway that it is getting in and out. Maybe he's set up camp for the winter.   I sincerely hope not.

I now need to deceide what if anything I can do about the problem...

Got the grumps!

I have to admit that I have been a grumpy old cow today.  Do you ever have those days when you wake up and you hate the world and everybody in it.  Well, that has been me.  Steam coming out my ears and fire from the nostrils.

There has been no reason for me feeling like this, and no it is not the time of the month, it's just how I woke up.  I hope when I go to bed tonight I wake up in a better mood tomorrow.

So, to end my rather bad day I am just chilling with a rather large Vodka and Lemon.  I know it's a school night and I don't make a habit of it and I will probably regret it tomorrow, but what the hell...

Do you love anyone enough?

"Do you love anyone enough to give them your last rolo?" I asked my daughter today.  She looked at me with her little cheeky grin and laughed.  "Your joking aren't you?" came the reply "No, I'm serious.  Do you love anyone enough to give them your last rolo?"  There was no answer. She had her mouth stuffed with rolo's.

A bit later on the morning she came up to me hugged me and there in her hand was a sticky chocolaty mass of melting rolos.  "I've saved two" she said. "I couldn't decide who I loved the bestest, so I am giving one to you mummy and one to my nanna."

My heart just melted like the chocolate in her palm.  It's moments like these that make all the tantrums and kick-offs worth while.  It was the best tasting rolo I have ever had.

I have failed at the NaBoPoMo.  Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control I have been unable to fulfil entries for the last two days.  I'm a bit gutted because I don't like to fail at anything, but my laptop was feeling a bit poorly and needed to be made better.  Anyway, she's all up and running again now so hopefully I should be back on it.

I actually sat down with my pen and paper the other day and started writing a story and I actually found when I read it back that it flowed better then it does when I just type away on the laptop.  I may have to start writing the old fashioned way and see how things go. Who knows that may be my way forward.

Today, I decided to have a play day with the kids.  So we have sat and read books, played games, had the play-doh out and made some wonderful messy creations.  I still have bright blue play-doh stuck under my fingers nail and it's not coming out.  Never mind, we have had good fun.  I love days like this when you have nowhere to go and nothing to do.  I have to confess we didn't even get dressed until lunch time.  And, I don't care.  It's good to be lazy occasionally.

Birthday Disaster!

It's Charlies third birthday tomorrow. He has gone to bed one very excited boy and I dread to think what time we will be up in the morning.  He has eagerly waited for this day for months.

I have wrapped the presents, written the card, got the important Thomas the Tank Engine cake, candles, blown up the balloons.  Opened the birthday banner and what does it say ? "Birthday Girl" in big writing. Oh my god! What was I doing?  I can't put that up, or maybe I could just... No, No way.  Searched through my cupboards, surely there must be an old one in here somewhere I thought and yep, there was.  "Birthday Princess" it was even pinker and covered in little tiaras.  Definitely can't put that up.

Oh well, guess we'll have to forgo the banner. I'm quite certain that he won't even realise.  I cannot believe how quick the time has flown.  Three years ago since the very, very worst night of my life ever.  I should have known then that he would be trouble and he certainly is.  But I wouldn't swap him for the world.  Well, maybe somedays I would.

Need Sleep

It's just a quick entry today because I am so tired.  Last night I was awoken every hour by a poorly little boy coughing and suffering from a slightly high temperature, a runny nose and a sore throat.  It was a tough night to say the least and it's been an even tougher day.  I have drank about a gallon of coffee and seriously considered sticky taping my eyes open at one point this afternoon.

I now have a pile of presents to start wrapping ready for my babies big 3rd birthday on Thursday, so no rest for the wicked today.  On that note I can feel another coffee coming on to get me through the next hour before crawling off to my bed, where hopefully tonight I may get some sleep.

Fire Alarms!

Why oh Why does the fire alarm always go off when it is raining?  It never goes off during the summer when the weather is hot and sunny.  We would all love to stand outside for half an hour and top up our sun tans.

There we were this afternoon sat in our nice warm office when yep off goes the alarm.  We all grabbed and coats and stood outside freezing to death and getting soaked through.  Only to be told it was a false alarm.  I was not impressed.

Grocery Shopping!

Lets face it, grocery shopping for most people is one of the biggest chores they have to face. No matter what time you go to the supermarket it is packed.  You can guarnatee that somewhere along the trip you will encounter the really annoying people that just stop to have a gab with their next door neighbour,  block the full asile, then tut when you try to squeeze past.  Then there is the ditherers.  They trudge up and down the asile picking this and that up and putting it back before returning 5 minutes later to pick it up yet again.  Not to mention the screaming kids...

Anyway I went at 9.30am this morning.  Yes, I know it's Sunday day of rest and all that.  But the shop was empty.  I whizzed round with my trolley at lightening speed and had the job done in 20 minutes. Result!

Never again will I moan at the kids for waking me up early on a sunday (Ok, I probably will) but from now on that is the time I will visit the supermarket.  While most people are lazing around and nursing the hangovers I will be up and out.

Peace and Quiet.

It's so quiet in my house at the moment you can hear a pin drop.  The tapping of my fingers on the keyboard is the only noise.  Just the way I like it, occasionally, that is.  No TV, no kids fighting.  I must admit after a while it's feels a bit to quiet.  The house feels a bit empty but before I know it they will be back and the normal chaos will be resumed.

The kids have gone to their dads so won't be back until around 5.  I have dashed round all morning tidying up, getting the ironing out the way and then took an hour out to spend on the wi-fit.  Yes, that is another goal for the month.  I need to lose a stone before Christmas, so it's diet and exercise all the way.

My plan for the rest of the day is to dig out the college books and get cracking with my assignment.  Hopefully with 4 hours uninterrupted in front of me should be able to achieve a fair bit.  Then later on it's off to the lovely Kaye and CT's for fireworks, roast pork sandwiches (Yum) and who knows maybe a sneaky glass of wine.  Can't wait!

Stinky Bear!

ugggh was my reaction yesterday when Charlie snuggled up to me with his beloved Sunny Bear.  Not because of the snuggle but due to the very unpleasant odour eminating from the bear.  To say he was stinky was an under statement.

"Charlie, Sunny Bear needs a wash." I told him.  "Shall I take him in the bath with me?" came his reply.  "He needs more than a bath.  He needs to go in he the washing machine."

First thing this morning Sunny Bear was lovingly loaded into the washer.  Along with the equally stinky gaddy (comfort blanket).  Door closed, powder added, swithed on... No! came the shout.  "Sunny Bear don't like it.  He's frightened now and you make him cry" shouted Charlie.  But, it was to late.  Sunny Bear was already being spun round and round.

For the next 45 minutes Charlie constantly checked on the well being of Sunny Bear, pressing his nose to the door to check if he was ok and shout words of encouragement to him.  The little grin as Sunny Bear emerged still in one piece, soon faded when Charlie realised that now Sunny Bear was soaking wet.  The trauma continued as Sunny was now placed into the tumble dryer.

It was a happy little boy that went to bed with his gaddy in one hand, his nono (dummy) in the other and a lovely fresh smelling Sunny Bear tucked under his arm.

My little monster did the one thing I have been dreading today.  He got hold of the phone and called 999.  Not only did he ring 999 he proceeded to happily chat away to the person on the end of the line.  It all started with our phone ringing.  As I went to answer it Charlie managed to beat me to it.  What I didn't realise was that he had answered the phone and then managed to cut the person off.  Obviously he decided to ring them back pressing random numbers on the phone.  When I found him he was happily chatting away to the person on the end of the line.  When I questioned him he said he was talking to Daddy.

My initial thought was, oh great, here we go again.  He never rings unless a) he is changing arrangements or b) he wants something.  I managed to get the phone and snapped "Hello." You can imagine my shock when a voice said.
"Do you require an emergency service?"
"Erm no" I cagily replied before the penny dropped "I'm really sor..." I was cut off mid-sentence.
"Then replace the phone immediately."
I felt like a naughty school girl.  I did feel so guilty though. I don't condone wasting time like that but it was a genuine accident.

Needless to say the handset is now kiddie locked and placed on a higher shelf to ensure that he doesn't get his sticky little mitts on it again.

Day Two!

By chance yesterday I come across NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) and I couldn't get the idea out of my head. In fact it kept me awake last night thinking could I really find something different to write about every day for a month, I'm not sure I can, but what the hell. I am going to give it a go.

At the moment my brain feels a bit like a car crash. I have that many thoughts and ideas, things I want to tackle and ultimately achieve, yet they are scattered all over the road in pieces. I need to form a plan of attack and start to put my thoughts into some sort of order and ultimately repair my smashed car.

I was sat in my bed at 3am this morning with my notebook drawing up a plan of attack.. The first thing to go is the social networking. I am wasting all my time checking out statuses and playing silly games. So that is going to stop. I have drawn up a list of what needs to done and so I am all fired up and ready to go.

I keep a personal diary and I do write in that more or less every day and on reading it back I generally have something different to say or witter about. So, if I can do that on a personal level (and no it will never see the light of day or I really would be taken away in a white jacket) then I'm pretty sure I can come up with something everyday to blog about. My aim is to find at least 10 minutes a day to write a little up date.

My motivation to leave the day job. I remember sitting at work this time last year and thinking I really don't want to be sat here anymore and guess what? I'm still there. Dealing with the same old crap day in day out. What I want to do is be a writer and to do that I need to start putting the hours in.

So here goes... see you all tomorrow with more wittering.

I have a confession to make...

Anyone that knows me knows that I don't watch much TV.  In fact I cannot actually remember the last time I sat and watched a DVD from start to finish.  Firstly, I don't have the time.  There is always so much that I need to do, or want to do, that TV comes low on the list of my priorities.  Secondly, the TV during the hours of 6.30 am and 7.30 pm is taken over by of kids shows.  If it's not cbeebies it's the new favourite film of the moment "Slapper and the stinkers" Which is the tale of a group of kids saving a  sea lion.  Hmmm.  Thirdly, I just aren't that interested. The TV is usually on in the background while I'm busily getting on with some task or other.

However on Saturday, much to my dismay, I was lent not one, but three DVDs and ordered to watch them.  Sunday night  I got the kids to bed and as I was feeling slightly worse for wear from my Saturday of excess wine I decided to get it over with and see what all the hype over The Twilight Sagas is.  I had always by passed these particular books/films and written them off as not my kind of thing.  Bloodsucking vampires and werewolves just doesn't really hold that much interest.

Oh my god!  How wrong have I been. I am hooked.  The world failed to exist from the moment I pressed play.  I watched the first one on Sunday and spent all day Monday waiting till I could get the kids in bed so I could watch the second.  The third is planned for tomorrow. I cannot wait to go and buy the books and see how they measure up to the films.

I am now a 100% Twilight Fan
